Germanistik and Bibliographie der deutschen Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft both index journal articles, books, and chapters in books related specifically to German Language and Literature. They are arranged in a way that helps you learn more about the field. Divided by the areas of language and literature, the sections devoted to literature are arranged by time period (e.g., mittelalter), literary movement (e.g, Sturm und Drang): major author, major author's works, and "lesser authors." In addition, at the beginning of each volume you'll find a list of all journals and volumes essays indexed in the volume. These will be the core publications in the field. These indexes take more time, but they will help you build expertise in the field of German literature.
